Phil Richardson and Bonnie Tyler

Located in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK, Phil’s expertise spans both Performance and Education. Phil graduated from Newcastle University with both a BA (Hons) Music (2004) and MMus (2005), and has since had a profound effect on the creative industries both locally and nationally.

His performance credits are numerous and impressive, endorsing Phil’s virtuoso skill as a pianist, composer, arranger and director. His outstanding musicianship has also led Phil to be regarded as one of the finest educators in the North East, delivering music curriculum across both further and higher education.

Owing much to his infectious personality and passion for the arts, Phil has led curriculum at both Gateshead and Newcastle Colleges, building unique partnerships with organisations such as the Academy of Music and Sound, The Sage Gateshead, Dance City, Live Theatre, as well as promoting the work of the National Skills Academy.  With such a proven track record, Quay Music is looking forward to the innovations Phil
will undoubtedly contribute to in the future….

Mark Deeks – Associate

Quay Music is also delighted to work with Mark Deeks, Director of Music Newcastle on a host of collaborative projects, particularly music education. Mark has played piano for more than 30 years, building up a wealth of experience as a performer, arranger, musical director, and lecturer. Mark has performed extensively throughout the UK and on three tours to Paris with the Inspiration UK choir.’ Safesake‘, his album of folk-influenced, acoustic songs was released in 2010. Comfortable both sight-reading and improvising, Mark has perfect pitch, holds the Dip(ABRSM) in piano teaching, and is also studying for a PhD with the University of Leeds. He has had research published both in the UK and abroad.
